England's Newest National Park 

The South Downs National Park is England's newest National Park; it became operational in 2011.The South Downs National Park covers 628 sq mile. It extends over 87 miles from Winchester in the west to Eastbourne in the east, through Hampshire, West Sussex and East Sussex.

The Park covers the chalk downland landscape of the South Downs including the iconic Beachy Head white cliffs. The park also includes the western Weald with its heavily wooded sandstone and clay hills and vales.

There are tremendous views from the South Downs National Park’s highest points at Blackdown (280 metres above sea level), Butser Hill (271 metres above sea level) and Harting downs (225 above sea level).
